Isolation is not good for anyone, especially not for a small Finnish girl. As the planet of the future withers, the newest generation takes refuge in space, shielding the vulnerable from the planet's harsh realities.

Look back at old memories of Finnish Midsummer and keep them close to you, because they might be the only thing you have to keep yourself sane when the source of your isolation seems neverending.

Inspired by Finnish culture and the corona pandemic, made to get rid off the misinformation about Midsummer going around on the internet. The puzzle of this game follows the steps typically followed on Juhannus, through the eyes of a child.

Controls:

Movement: WASD

Pick up objects: E

Jump: Spacebar

If you're curious about the workings of Juhannus, below is a link to a level abstract that goes more in depth into the inner workings of my game and how it ties together on a big scale.

Special thanks

Special thanks to my friends who helped me fix my code and my teachers who inspired and encouraged me during the course of making Juhannus. I feel truly proud of what I achieved and I feel like it wouldn't have been possible without the support of my peers.

I thought the drawings would be too high up to reach but then I jumped and realized the gravity was different! Which also explained the weird walk I had noticed earlier. Very cool attention to detail on that! It added a lot to the atmosphere.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I actually build the game around that mechanic rather than the other way, adapting the game to make the most out of the low gravity controller. Very happy you noticed that!

Short, but super sick

Super glad you liked it!! This is the first project I ever made completely solo that has actual working gameplay elements so I’m incredibly proud of what I achieved in such a short time. 🫶🫶
